Hi there, I’m Melissa!
I help homeowners go from dysfunctional and blah spaces that don’t represent or serve them, to bespoke, beautiful, and functional places they can enjoy for years to come!
When…
you don’t have the time or know-how to take on a renovation or redecoration project…
you and your partner can’t seem to agree…
you can’t figure out how to fix that problem spot…
you are totally overwhelmed by all of the decisions to make and you just need someone to guide you through the design process…
I can help you.
I Am…
An interior designer, wife, and mother to 3 awesome kids. And one sweet, but embarrassingly co-dependent rescue dog. I have an affinity for all things creative and my free time is usually spent making something; in my craft room, in the kitchen, or around the house in general.
In one way or another interior design has always been a part of my life. It started out as very strong opinions about the way my childhood bedroom should look. Then progressed into critiquing my mother’s design choices. (Sorry about that, Mom). As I made my way into adulthood, I gradually began to realize just how important design was to me. As a poor college student I still made it a priority to decorate my crumby little apartment. Because it made me SO happy!
My first career was as an elementary school teacher. (I loved teaching and I’d do it all over again, if you’re wondering.) During my time as an educator and those fleeting years when my children were tiny, my need for purposeful and aesthetically pleasing interiors became even more clear. Since then, investing in my home has helped my family and I live better. And I want that for each and every one of my clients. It’s amazing how much good design can improve so many aspects of your life! Creating custom places, especially for busy families like my own, brings me so much joy.
My Commitment to My Clients
I approach every project with the unique needs, preferences, and styles that the people living there require. No two people are the same and their homes shouldn’t be either. Besides, who wants to create the same look over and over again? There’s no fun in that. And I aim to make the design process as fun and gratifying as possible.
My Style
I appreciate the beauty and personality every design style has to offer, but my personal style is a unique blend of American Colonial, Hamptons, and Transitional styles. I like for an interior to feel like it has a little history, even if it’s a new build.
My preferred technique is to embrace juxtaposition with decorative elements, fixtures, and furniture to create a more collected and timeless look. If I have the opportunity to pair an antique with a new piece, I’m taking it! The results are always so interesting and endearing.
And color! I love to work with color in a purposeful way. I think this is the one element of design that everyone can see the importance of. But more than just the way color looks, I like to tap in to the different feelings and thoughts it creates for every person that sees it. It can be used with restraint or in abundance and the results are equally impactful.
